MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE PARKS MASTER PLAN

Client:
Project Description:
Miami Shores Village Parks and Recreation
Location:
Miami Shores Village, Fla.
FRMWRK was engaged by Miami Shores Village to develop its first comprehensive Parks and Recreation System Master Plan. The plan established a bold yet actionable vision for the future, emphasizing improved access to greenspace, enhanced walkability and connectivity, and leveraging parks to support broader community objectives, including increased sustainability and resilience to sea-level rise.
The planning process prioritized collaborative engagement, actively involving Village leadership and community members. Initial visioning and macro-level discovery directly informed detailed, site-specific design and programming recommendations.
A comprehensive needs assessment and community engagement revealed the need for creative strategies to expand greenspace and improve accessibility within this nearly built-out community. Additionally, the plan outlined a detailed vision for a new, multi-generational indoor community center, serving as the hub for Village recreation programming.
The resulting Miami Shores Village Parks and Recreation Master Plan is visionary yet actionable. By emphasizing feasibility, diverse funding mechanisms, and strategic partnerships from the outset, it enables incremental, immediate progress toward ambitious long-term goals. The plan also establishes a clear framework to support and justify a future public bond referendum to fund priority parks, recreation, and connectivity projects—ensuring lasting benefits for both current residents and future generations.
